Moreland Hall to Launch Drug Action Week 2012 in Victoria

Melbourne, VIC, Wednesday 6th June, 2012 – UnitingCare Moreland Hall, the lead alcohol and other drugs (AOD) treatment and education agency of UnitingCare Victoria & Tasmania, today announced it’s calendar of events for this year’s Drug Action Week (June 17-23 June).

National Recognition for Moreland Hall Youth Withdrawal Service

Melbourne, VIC, 28th May, 2012 – UnitingCare Moreland Hall, one of Victoria’s leading alcohol and other drugs agencies, today welcomed the announcement that its youth residential withdrawal service, Gwenyth Williams House, has been listed as a finalist at the 2012 National Drug and Alcohol Awards in the Excellence in Services for Young People.

Award winners will be announced on June 22nd, at a gala dinner to mark the end of Drug Action Week.

Moreland Hall Welcomes Federal Funding Extension for Essential Services

Melbourne, VIC, 23rd May, 2012 – UnitingCare Moreland Hall, the lead alcohol and other drugs (AOD) treatment and education agency of UnitingCare Victoria & Tasmania, today welcomed the announcement that two of its key programs would receive a further three year’s Federal funding. The agency had previously been advised by the Department of Health and Ageing that it’s Intensive Support Service (ISS) and Hume Youth and Family Drug Service (HYP-d) were to be discontinued, along with a wide range of essential programs provided by other agencies across Victoria.

Federal Funding Cuts to Decimate Victorian Drug Treatment Services

Melbourne, VIC, 11th May, 2012 – Moreland Hall today condemned the deep and widespread funding cuts to Victorian alcohol and other drug treatment services announced following the delivery of the Federal Budget.  Moreland Hall CEO Laurence Alvis called on the Gillard Government to reassess its values after prioritising a budget surplus over the treatment and support needs of some of the nation’s most vulnerable people.
